Overview

Because we are a small organisation, our roles are diverse.  We clean, cook, attend to personal care, provide support in social settings and support clients of all ages with whose disability can be a challenge, both in the home and in the community.

This is a job with responsibility to assist each client become as independent and valued as possible. You will be required to do your best and to put the person first, always keeping in mind your duty of care and confidentiality.

Reliability, a positive attitude, creativity and diligence are all very important aspects of your work.

You must be experienced with working with people with disability and have a demonstrated ability to encourage people to make informed decisions and you will need an understanding of a person-centred approach. We are solution focused. Living near or in the northern suburbs of Adelaide would be an advantage.

Our requirements

• Reliability and enthusiasm
• Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
• Current DCSI, DHS or NDIS screening for children and people with a disability
• A current Senior First Aid Certificate, CPR and Manual Handling
• A current unrestricted Driver Licence
• A commitment to encouraging individuals to achieve their aspirations and goals
• Good communication skills that inspire confidence and trust
• Demonstrated conflict management skills and self determination
• Experience working with a range of people including people with disability
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience with person-centred principles
• Willingness to do sleepovers (passive nights)
